Autumn, a transitional season between summer and winter, at this time, the wind begins to blow stronger, the rain refreshes the environment and our skin begins to suffer with so many constant changes in temperature. On the other hand, winter, the coldest season, is distinguished by short, cold days and less sunlight. Also, rain, snow, wind, cold and adverse weather conditions are common.

During fall and winter, it's important to adjust your skin care routine to adapt to the colder, drier weather conditions. Here are a few tips to take care of your skin in winter and autumn:

  • Moisturizing: Use a richer, more nourishing moisturizer to help combat dry skin caused by cold weather and wind.

  • Sunscreen: Although the days may be shorter and less sunny, continue to apply sunscreen daily to protect your skin from UV damage.

  • Gentle cleansing: Opt for milder, creamier cleansers to avoid over-drying your skin during the colder months.

  • Gentle exfoliation: Exfoliate once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and promote cell renewal. However, avoid overly abrasive exfoliants that can irritate sensitive skin.

  • Using antioxidants is essential to prevent skin aging. It is advisable to opt for compounds rich in vitamins C or E, coenzyme Q10 and carotenoids, as they are very beneficial. These elements are especially suitable for the autumn season.

  • Treatments to combat blemishes are especially recommended during autumn and winter, as the intense sun exposure of summer can lead to an increase in melanin production and the appearance of skin blemishes. At this time of year, it is ideal to use depigmenting products to restore an even facial tone.

  • Internal hydration: Drink enough water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out, as dry air can cause dehydration.

  • Extra protection: Wear scarves, gloves and warm clothing to protect your skin from cold wind and low humidity.

  • Specific treatments: Consider incorporating additional serums or treatments to address specific skin problems, such as extreme dryness or sensitivity.

  • It is advisable to opt for quick showers and limit excessive use of soap. While it is tempting to take a hot shower in cold weather, it is important to moderate the water temperature to avoid dehydrating the skin. In addition, it is suggested to use mild soap-free or pH-neutral cleansers, as they do not compromise the skin's natural properties.
