The skin is the largest organ of the body and acts as a protective barrier against external elements, it renews itself every 28 days, therefore, it is crucial to take proper care of it to keep it in optimal conditions.
A skin care routine consists of a series of daily steps that should be followed to keep the skin clean, hydrated and protected. Following these steps on a daily basis produces positive results.
Simple but effective daily routine:
1- Cleanse your skin:
Cleansing is the first step and is essential to remove dirt, makeup and accumulated debris from the skin. I recommend using a gentle cleanser suitable for your skin type, with a neutral pH to preserve its balance, apply it with your fingers for a minute (count to 60 in your mind), I recommend using your fingers because other cleansers such as brushes or sponges can damage our skin. Finally, use a towel exclusively for the face, I recommend washing it once or twice a week.
2- Apply toner (not essential).
Frequent use of toner will help you remove any traces of cleanser, keep your skin hydrated, unclog pores and reduce their size, rebalance pH levels and eliminate excess oil. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and can reduce redness caused by acne and blemishes.
After washing your face, apply toner to a cotton pad, dabbing it in circular motions to improve blood circulation. Another option is to apply the toner with your hands, pressing gently for deep penetration. Rinsing is not necessary. This ritual promotes healthy skin by removing impurities and stimulating circulation, leaving your face revitalized and ready for the next stage of facial care.

3- Moisturize your skin and lips:
Moisturizing is key to keeping your skin soft, supple and healthy looking. It is recommended to use a moisturizer suitable for your skin type, containing moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid or glycerin. It is important that you research the components of the cream you choose, look for the first 6 ingredients as these are the ones that the product contains the most.
Moisturizing the lips is also essential to prevent dryness and flaking. Lips lack sebaceous glands, making them susceptible to dehydration. Regular application of lip balms or creams keeps them soft and improves their appearance.
Eye contour cream (not essential)
The eyes are the most delicate area of the face, so it is essential that you use a contour to reduce expression lines, reduce swelling and inflammation of the skin, improve the appearance of dark circles and reduce their coloration, reduce puffiness under the eyes, minimize signs of fatigue in the face and illuminate this area to look energetic and radiant.
4- Apply sunscreen:
Sunscreen is essential to prevent damage caused by the sun's UV rays. It is recommended to use a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) and apply it generously before going out in the sun. In addition, it is important to reapply every two hours, especially if you are exposed to the sun for prolonged periods of time.
Apply a sunscreen that:
Has a minimum sun protection factor (SPF) of 30.
Is water resistant
Protects your skin from UVA and UVB rays
Is oil-free
Does not contain toxic ingredients such as: PABA (ethyl-4-aminobenzoate, benzocaine) and ODP-PABA (octyl dimethyl aminobenzoic acid), Octocrylene, homosalate, benzene, titanium oxide (titanium dioxide, titanium dioxide [nano] or ci 77891) and zinc oxide.

Nighttime skin care routine:
It is essential to establish a simple nighttime routine to care for your skin, as during the day it accumulates dirt and impurities that affect its appearance. Cleansing and revitalizing the skin before bedtime is crucial to preserve its freshness and long-term health, ensuring a radiant and clean appearance.
Remove makeup from your face
Wash your face or cleanse with micellar water.
Apply a moisturizer and you're done!
Tips:
Change your pillowcase
Change and wash your pillowcase weekly to prevent the accumulation of dirt, sweat and impurities on your skin. This habit ensures a clean and bacteria-free face, helping to maintain skin health and prevent possible dermatological problems.
Exfoliate once or twice a month
Exfoliation is another important step in a skin care routine. It helps to remove dead skin cells and stimulate cell turnover. It can be done by using mild exfoliants or by chemical treatments such as exfoliating acids. However, it is important not to over exfoliate, as this can damage the skin's protective barrier.

Drink enough water every day
Water is essential for optimal organ function and also plays a crucial role in skin health. Keeping the skin hydrated improves its elasticity, providing a healthy, smooth and soft appearance. It is advisable to consume 6 to 8 glasses daily to promote internal and external wellness.
Find out the ingredients of your products
Researching the ingredients of your products is essential in cosmetics. Potentially carcinogenic or ineffective ingredients have been detected. Prioritize safety and efficacy when choosing products, thus ensuring that they perform their function without health risks.
Beginning skin care?
Start with a cleanser and moisturizer, as you get used to applying them every day you can add more steps to your skin care routine.
